Embed application in Android (Make application system). How to install Progressive Web Apps (PWA) in Chrome Pin an App

If you have programs installed on your computer that you use very often, then they should be placed in the taskbar. This will speed up access to them, and also reduce the time spent looking for a shortcut to a particular program.

At the end of the installation of most programs you will be prompted " Create a shortcut on the desktop», « Create a shortcut in the start menu"And" Create shortcut in Quick Access Toolbar". That's it " Quick Access Toolbar"And there is a taskbar, or rather an area in it. It's next to the Start menu.

As you can see in the image above, in this case, it contains 3 shortcuts: Yandex browser, Explorer, Text editor Microsoft Word... Let's try to add some more program to the taskbar. For example, let it be the Paint.NET graphic editor. To do this, you must:

1. Right-click on the program shortcut on the Desktop or in the Start menu.

2. Context menus will open, in which you need to find the option “ Pin to taskbar».

After that, the program shortcut will be added to the taskbar, and you can have quick access to it. Such an operation can be carried out only with shortcuts to programs or games, but with photographs or documents, it is impossible, and this is usually not necessary.

Sense 7 has not yet been tested by many, but today it can be installed as a launcher on almost all Android devices, and on Htc one M8 is completely ported. In addition, you can buy the M9 in Russia today. However, let's get down to business. Sense 7 is the next version of the most stable user interface that took root back in 2009 with the announcement of HTC Tattoo. It immediately gained popularity due to its intuitive, user-friendly interface, which, moreover, looked very attractive.

A total of 14 versions of Sense were released, including the most recent Sense 7. Today, after years of updates, we are seeing a completely different way of looking at information display - not the Sense that the company's fans loved - in which, although it is possible, it is very difficult to catch glimpses older versions.

In addition to new themes, slightly improved apps and a redesigned look, Sense 7 also has an interesting homescreen widget. Its principle of operation is to display frequently used applications in one place or another. The widget itself understands whether you are at home or at work, then analyzes the use of the device and dynamically sorts the list of applications. This, of course, raises some questions: "How often will the smartphone analyze the situation?" After all, this probably requires considerable resources that will strain the already problematic Snapdragon 810.

However, again, this is a separate topic for discussion. Today we are only interested in convenience. Want to keep the icon of a particular application always pinned to the Work tab? No problems. You just need to pinch and hold your finger on the icon. At this moment, the application will be pinned, and in the future it will always be in this tab. Note that after such a procedure, the icon will be fixed only in a certain tab, not in all.

Sense 7 will be a good experience for many users. And while iPhone fans are gnashing their teeth at the development of Android, Sense 7 users will simply "use" the convenient shell.

According to colleagues from androidauthority, very soon (in May) a new version will be available for HTC One M8, Desire EYE and other top devices of the company. The fate of the One M7 is unknown. There was talk about a possible update to, but it is unclear whether this will be a simple update, or a fresh look in the face of Sense 7. In any case, "romodels" do not sleep ...

The latest version of Android offers a new feature that Google calls "Pin Screen". If this feature is enabled, you can lock the device so that the person has access to only one application. Undoubtedly, this is a handy feature for those who often give the device to a child to watch cartoons or a friend to check e-mail.

Screen pinning is not enabled by default on Android 5.0. To enable the function you need to do the following:
  • Launch the Settings app on your Android device.
  • Scroll down until you find the "Security" option. Click on it.
  • At the bottom of the security page, click on screen pinning.
  • Slide your finger to toggle the toggle switch to the "On" position.

Now that screen pinning is enabled, you can pin any application to your screen at will. The pinning process itself requires two taps and is available at any time. You can only pin the last app you accessed, so before proceeding to the next steps, launch the app you are going to pin.
  • To pin the app, click on the Browse button (it's the square button at the bottom of the screen).
  • Drag the title bar of the app you want to pin to the center of the screen.
  • In the lower right corner of the app's overview, there will be a blue button with a pushpin icon. Click on it.
  • Each time you pin an app, you will be prompted to confirm this action. You will also need to decide if you want to be required to enter a passcode to unpin the app.
  • Click the "Start" button to pin the application.

After the app is pinned, the user can navigate anywhere within the app, but they cannot exit. So if you've pinned the Chrome browser, the user can only browse the internet.

Exiting a pinned application requires you to press and hold the browse and back buttons at the same time. After a couple of seconds, the device will switch to the overview screen.

Android 5.0 offers to create accounts users who are perhaps better suited to sharing the device with their children, but in cases where you want to give someone a limited device for a short time, pinning the screen is very convenient.

Personally, I think of it as a full-screen menu for launching applications, allowing you to easily open any program. But to get that impression, you need to figure out how the home screen works, experiment with it. I will try to make this task easier for readers by telling how to pin the necessary elements to the home screen: modern applications and desktop programs, folders, libraries, network resources, sections of the Control Panel, and so on.

How to pin modern apps

This is a fairly simple task. First, find the app you want to pin. To do this, right-click anywhere on an empty spot on the Start screen. A panel will appear at the bottom.

On this panel, click the All apps button.

A list of all programs installed on your computer will open.

Highlight the application you want to pin by right-clicking on it. To do this, on the touchscreen, touch the icon and pull it down slightly. After that, a set of actions available for this application will appear in the lower panel.

One of the options is “Pin to Start” or “Unpin to Start”, depending on the current state.

Click the Pin to Home button and the icon for the selected application appears on the Home screen. The Unpin from Home screen option removes the application icon from the Home screen if it is already there.

As you can see, everything is very simple.

How to pin desktop programs

Again, you first need to find the program you want to pin to the Start screen. You can use the program shortcut, for example, on the desktop.

Or you can open the folder where the program is installed and highlight the main executable file.

The third option is to use the search in File Explorer.

Finding the desired program, right-click on it, or touch and hold the icon. In the context menu, select the item "Pin to Start".

Now you can look at the start screen to make sure that the icon of the selected program has appeared there.

How to pin folders and libraries

Folders and libraries are pinned to the Start screen in much the same way as desktop programs. Simply highlight a folder or library, right-click or tap and hold on it, and then select the Pin to Start option.

The folder or library icon will then appear on the home screen.

How to pin network resources

Network resources are pinned to the Start screen in the same way as folders and libraries. The procedure is almost the same: first find the network location in File Explorer. It can be a network folder or an entire computer.

Then right-click on the network share and select the "Pin to Start" option from the context menu.

Just remember that the network resource icon is displayed on the start screen all the time, even if the resource itself is not available at that moment.

How to pin websites

One of the interesting things about Windows 8 is that you can also pin websites to the Start screen - though only when using Internet Explorer. The option is available in both the desktop version of IE and full screen.
First, let's take a look at how to pin sites from the full screen version of Internet Explorer. First of all, you need to open the desired site.

Now right-click anywhere on the blank page or swipe down from the top of the screen or from the bottom up. Two panels will appear, one at the top and one at the bottom.

We need the one below. It has a pushpin icon on the right.

Click on it. A context menu will appear with two options: Pin to Start and Add to Favorites. Select Pin to Start.

A small window will appear in which you can change the name of the site if you are not satisfied with the default option. Then click the "Pin to Start" button.

The home screen now has an icon for the site with the specified name.

The desktop version of Internet Explorer is very simple too. Having opened the desired site, look at the panel in the upper right corner of the browser window. There are several icons in there. The latter opens the "Tools" menu.

Click on it and select the Add site to Start Screen option from the menu that appears.

By the way, the same menu can be called with the + [X] keys.

After selecting the desired option, the site icon will appear on the home screen.

How to pin Control Panel items

At first I tried to search for the desired sections of the Search Control Panel on the Start screen, right-click on them and pin, but unfortunately this method does not work.

The only way to pin these items is to open the Control Panel and find the item you want. Take the Programs and Features section as an example. To pin it, go to the Programs section.

Right-click on the desired item and select "Pin to Start".

After that, the icon of the corresponding section of the Control Panel will appear on the home screen.

Conclusion

As you can see, pinning items to the Start screen is easy. Feel free to experiment and create your own icon sets!

Materials

In order to clarify some incomprehensible details. Since I already knew most of the information, I was going to "view" the materials in the background, distracting only the most important points. And then I had a question - how to dock a window on top of all windows in Windows? It would not be very effective to completely ignore the video sequence during training, so I wanted to keep an eye on what was happening with one eye. We will consider this problem today.

Of course, the problem is relevant primarily for owners of small monitors, in particular laptops. For those who have a larger diagonal, it is enough to simply place the necessary windows side by side. In addition, many programs have modes for jointly viewing several documents, but this method does not work when the information is in different applications... For instance:

  • Place the Windows calculator on top of all calculation windows.
  • Watching videos and doing other things in parallel.
  • Comparison of two texts / codes / pictures, etc.

This task cannot be solved using standard system tools, unlike the procedure using the built-in Disk Management Tool utility. Perhaps older versions or Mac / Linux don't have such problems. Fortunately, Windows is full of different software that is ready to help you out at any time. As a result, there were a couple of options that place the window on top of all other windows in Windows. With their help, you can perform any actions and clicks in a browser, text editor, etc. until the object you selected is locked in the foreground.

Dockers in front of all windows in Windows

Looking ahead, I will say that I have come across suitable plugins separately for Chrome / Firefox, but I will not consider them. Firstly, they worked unstably, and secondly, system applications for any occasion are more versatile.

OnTopReplica

The OnTopReplica software product creates a copy of the window you have selected, which is located above all the others. Out of the five, this solution is perhaps the most original and functional. The last time the software was updated in 2014, so the description states support only Windows Vista / 7/8 with Aero effect. The reviews are extremely positive.

Main features:

  • of course, the ability to make a window on top of all windows in Windows;
  • displaying only a part of the cloned object (for example, you do not need to see the entire browser screen with the video, but only the video itself, and it works here!);

  • setting transparency, etc.
  • activating the possibility of clicks through the selected window (as if it does not exist) is generally a cool thing !;
  • auto resizing, fixing an object in the corners of the monitor, etc.;

OnTopReplica is the most complex and complex of all options, but its advanced features (transparency, selection, skipping clicks) can be quite useful in some situations. I do not know if you will be able to fix the elements on top of all windows in Windows 10, because it is not stated in the description. If someone has already tested the solution for this version, please unsubscribe in the comments.

TurboTop

The developer's site TurboTop looks very dumb, although the program is very relevant and was updated in mid-2016. The application works from the system tray - you just specify which of all windows will be docked.

You can use the solution for multiple tabs by checking them in the popup menu. Everything here is as simple as possible without any additional settings.

Always on top

Always on Top app is another script that allows you to dock a window on top of all windows in Windows 7, 10 and others. You don't even need to install it, you run it right after downloading.

In order to place some window in the foreground, use the combination of hot keys "Ctrl + Space". The option is disabled in the same way. The exit is carried out through the context menu after clicking on the tray icon.

Window on top

Window On Top has the most beautiful site about the program, perhaps because it is paid :) Functions, in principle, are similar to the previous solutions. Lock the element using the Ctrl + F8 keyboard shortcut or manually by dragging the hand symbol onto the desired object.

Of the pies, I would single out the work of the program on top of all windows in Windows 10, 7, 8, Vista and even XP. If none of the previous options fit, you will have to buy this one. There are additional options: automatic minimization to tray, launch at startup.

DeskPins

DeskPins is a good free Open Source solution on the topic that supports all versions of Windows (judging by the developers' statements). They also distinguish from the functions: low resource consumption, work with multiple windows and all types of applications, hot keys. The latest version was released in 2016.

To make a window on top of all windows in Windows through DeskPins, click on the program icon in the tray, after which appearance the cursor changes to a pin. Now you can "hook" it to any window, thereby fixing it.

Creation of several similar objects is allowed. Calling the context menu on the tray icon, you can change some settings: color, combination of HotKeys used and even add rules for automatic triggering. In general, it looks pretty good. If the pin functionality doesn't work, try hotkeys (sometimes it helps).

Total. In this article, I looked at a couple of options for how to dock a window on top of all windows in Windows. Initially I liked the Window On Top solution because of the developer site, but then I saw that it was paid. To be honest, I see no reason to buy this software. full of alternatives that do their job perfectly.

In the case when you do not need additional settings and chips by the type of transparency, the usual Always on Top will be enough. I like that the script does not need to be installed. I'm not a fan of adding third-party unknown software to my computer. Previously, of course, I checked everything with an antivirus, but nowadays you cannot be 100% sure of anything. Again, I tested the programs on top of all windows in Windows 7, for other versions of Win 10, 8 you can try them yourself.
