After a month of use, the phone began to discharge very quickly (over 7 hours) in all modes, in active, in "sleeping" and even (attention) in the off (!!!) state and was constantly warm. In search of the cause of this accident, I searched all the Internet, tried to turn off everything that was possible, several times completely dumped the bodies. to the factory settings, I stitched it a couple of times by cable, through Sony's utility. In general, I took it to the service, received a fully working device in 2 weeks. To the question: "What have you done?" - received the answer: "We asked again." In general, I was glad that they did not understand, but did not understand the answer a little, because I myself stitched it 2 times.
It doesn't matter, now the phone holds a charge for 2 days in average use mode (calls 3 hours / day, some internet) and about 20-30% remains. Happy as an elephant. The Z3 Compact is a bit thicker, but that makes sense. The battery in the Z3 is set at 3100 mAh, and in the Z3 Compact - 2600 mAh. RAM in the first case is available 3 GB, in the second 1 GB less - 2 GB. Due to the smaller diagonal of the Z3 Compact (4.6 inches versus 5.2 inches), the resolution has also decreased: from Full HD to regular HD. That's all. Appearance
Externally, the Sony Xperia Z3 is similar to the previous models of the company, so it will be difficult to confuse the device with solutions from other companies. But that's for the best. Personally, I like the design solutions of the Japanese for the last few years. For example, in our case, the smartphone has very thin side frames (they are also quite small at the top and bottom), so we managed to fit the 4.6-inch screen into a body that is much smaller in size than competitors with a similar display diagonal.
Above the screen there was a place for the Sony logo, two sensors (lighting and proximity), front camera and dynamics. Moreover, the latter has a twin brother, which is already located under the display. You yourself understand that stereo sound in any device is always pleasant. By the way, about the sound. It is very high-quality and clean here, but at maximum volume (this is especially noticeable in games), the smartphone begins to vibrate directly in the hands.
Exactly in the center of the right side, the engineers placed the power control key, which is made in the best traditions of Sony - round and silver. On the version in black (there are also red, light green and white) it looks very impressive. Below you can find a volume rocker. It has two features: it is small (I have the same size lock button on my Lumia 1520) and it is located too close to the aforementioned power control key, so accidental clicks cannot be avoided for the first few days. But then you get used to it. A two-way camera button is also present.
On the left, everything is hidden behind plugs. Only two-pin docking connector in a prominent place. Under the top "lid" you can find a microUSB connector and a slot for memory cards, and under the bottom - a tray for Nano SIM cards. To be honest, it is not always convenient to open the plug every time to charge a smartphone or transfer some data to a computer. However, I have to admit that after my 6-inch Lumia 1520 it was difficult to get used to.

We figured out the diagonal of the display and its resolution at the very beginning of the review - 4.6 inches and 1280 x 720 pixels. There was no sense in Full HD here, and the company did the right thing by not chasing dry numbers. HD is enough for this size not to see individual pixels on the screen - 319 PPI. Gloved control is provided, and up to 10 touches are supported simultaneously.
With viewing angles, maximum and minimum brightness, readability of fonts, everything is fine. The only thing to understand is that a small screen (although a few years ago a 4.6-inch smartphone seemed gigantic) means a small keyboard. When typing, you often press the wrong key. It would seem that this is also a matter of habit, but during the test I did not manage to get used to it.
Camera
The main camera received 20.7 MP, and the front one - 2.2 MP. In terms of software, everything is not bad enough (although, as we remember, it was not always so, the company made a noticeable step only in its latest devices). There are a lot of modes here. The only funny thing is that the maximum quality (that is, 20 MP) can be selected only in manual mode, while the others use 8 MP. In various tests, the smartphone also showed its best side: 45 thousand in AnTuTu, 20 thousand in Quadrant and 19 thousand in 3DMark. Throughout the entire time of testing the device, I did not notice any shortcomings even with the usual flipping of desktops (although here, rather, the point is in the correct optimization of the proprietary shell). The operating system is Android (wow, what a surprise!) Version 4.4.4.
As for the built-in memory, it is 16 GB. MicroSD cards up to 128GB are also supported. But autonomy is generally a separate conversation. A list of all available functions appears by pressing the icon under the shooting keys. There are over 10 pre-installed versions and new ones can be downloaded. Most of them know from previous models:

Photos and videos with effects are saved in separate subfolders inside the DCIM / Xperia folder: TIMESHIFT_VIDEO, AR_EFFECT, etc.
Video shooting is performed with a maximum resolution of 4K - 3840x2160 pixels, if the corresponding option is enabled. Before starting recording, the phone honestly warns that it can turn off in case of overheating. A minute of recording will take about 400 MB of memory, while a standard 1080p will take 120-130. The quality of the video allows you to watch them on a large TV display.

Autonomous work
In active operation mode (constant 3G synchronization, 1 hour of internet and games, half an hour of chatting, power saving modes are disabled) the phone was discharged in 8 hours and 40 minutes. This is more than the market average and roughly equals a whole working day. If you use it less intensively, then you can last up to 2 days, and including the Internet if necessary - and all 3-4 days.
You can watch a movie for about 9 hours. The battery is discharged from 10% to 0 at the same rate as at higher rates.
All of this applies to normal use. To extend the operating time, several charge saving modes are provided at once.
STAMINA is a standard mode for Sony phones, here you can also select an application that is allowed to work in standby mode and turn on battery saving if the phone is often used as a watch.
The most economical option is Ultra STAMINA (in other Z-smartphones it was not), it turns off all others and takes about 15 seconds to activate. After which you find yourself on a modified desktop, and even the settings will be trimmed. Only Bluetooth and basic functions will remain available.

The compact version of the flagship smartphone Sony Xperia Z3 turned out to be even more interesting than its older brother - it should be considered as a purchase if you do not need a device with a large display.
Design, construction
I got this smartphone just before my September trip to Munich, went with a friend on a classic trip - look at the queue, drink a holiday beer (Oktoberfest was just beginning), buy an iPhone 6, have a delicious breakfast in a cafe near the market and go home. I took the Z3 Compact with me, there was an idea to broadcast on YouTube, in the end I didn't have the strength in the evening, and the idea fell through - but you should know that the smartphone also has such a very nice option. And throughout the trip, the Z3 Compact did not give rest to my friend, he liked it very much, he constantly asked to see, twist in his hands, tell me what functions and features there are.
It would seem, here, the iPhone 6, has been waiting for so long. What do you care about a small Android smartphone? But, as practice shows, Z3 Compact really evokes positive emotions and almost instant addiction in people. He is small - and very thoughtful. When I first saw it, I still didn’t want to come to terms with the fact that there was no metal frame in this “compact”, it was replaced by polymer. After a month of use, I can safely say - it's okay. It looks good, does not slip, the device can be lifted off the table simply with your fingertips (unlike the Z3), what else is needed?
And the device is very photogenic, every picture got a bunch of likes wherever possible. For example, here's a picture for you.

And here is a photo where the Sony Xperia Z3 is in full combat equipment, with a microphone, a noise-canceling headset is next to it, all these accessories are supported, since it uses a five-pin 3.5 mm jack. And the sound quality is very good. And the speaker is very loud, just like the iPhone 5S.
In addition to white, there are also options for black, mint and red. It seems to me that the Z3 Compact is worth buying in some difficult version, black is too boring.
But Sony Xperia Z3 Compact is an emotional thing, it is hardly worth putting it on a par with other smartphones with Android. Samsung and LG don't have such smartphones, I don't even know what to call them. These are fashion devices, fashionable in terms of design, materials, some kind of emotional charge - the buyer of the Z3 Compact gets a smaller version of the flagship, but not only. Also, the feeling of a thing with a capital B. This is very nice. The girls really like the device, it fits well in a small hand, while men are pleased with the functionality. Water resistant? Yes. Good camera? Yes. Interesting accessories? Yes. Can you increase your memory? Yes. Powerful processor? Yes. All these are words for a commercial, but many people choose their gadgets this way.

Well, let's get back to the traditional overview. I love how the smartphone looks from the front. We tried to remove the frames, the polymer ends are rough, and the device as a whole fits better in the hand, it's easier to get it out of the pocket. The buttons are well done, and despite the compactness, the camera button is retained. Like the flagship, there are rounded inserts at the ends. Neat plugs, unprotected 3.5 mm jack supports all proprietary accessories for this pinout, the device is protected according to the IP68 standard.
It's a pity that summer is over and all Z3s will be on sale in the fall, the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact would look great somewhere on the beach. Although soon after all winter holidays, and many will fly to warm countries. So, don't forget this little smartphone.

Regarding the reliability of the glass panels in the front and back: the device once fell from a height onto the stone floor in the kitchen, I did not find any damage. Fingerprints and scratches are invisible on white, keep this in mind when buying.
If you are annoyed by the end cap, use a magnetic charger. True, you will have to buy it separately. And one more complaint about the assembly - everything is very cool here, glass panels and all that, but the buttons move a little. This is especially noticeable on the volume control button.
Display
The diagonal of the IPS-display is 4.6 inches, the resolution is 1280 x 720 pixels, everything is good with brightness and viewing angles. I like how the fonts were changed here, pay attention to the branded clock on the screen in standby mode, made well. Anyway, the fonts are chosen interestingly, but the icons seem too big. On the other hand, they are clearly visible on a small screen, you immediately select the desired program, you do not have to fumble around the screen.
In the display settings, you can turn on the "With gloves" mode, select the white balance, there is a function to activate the device by double-clicking on the screen when the smartphone is turned off. Previously, this feature was only available on large flagships. Supports smart backlight function - the screen remains on while the smartphone is in your hand. You can choose the brightness yourself, or you can trust the automation, I prefer the first option.
This is not entirely related to the display, but the proximity sensor did not always work adequately for me, during a conversation I opened the quick parameters menu several times with my cheek, turned on the flashlight, etc. If you have the same problem, please let us know in the comments.
I will also note one more point. Small screen - small keyboard. It is a real torment to write large SMS or long messages on Facebook here, I am already used to turning my smartphone over and writing with two fingers. But the keyboard itself is not bad.

I want to say about this separately - I still would not advise Sony to save on gadgets, many are upset that there is no headset, stand or any other accessories. The “you can buy it separately” strategy is good, but even Apple is trying to give the user everything they need to use their smartphone. And at Sony we have always been pleased with interesting "special stages". I would like to believe that in the Sony Xperia Z4 everything will return to square one and at least a headset (better with noise cancellation) will be included.

It uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor with a clock speed of 2.5 GHz, an Adreno 330 video adapter, 3 GB of RAM, the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact has 2 GB of RAM, but you don't need more, the display diagonal is smaller. Installed 16 GB of memory, you can use microSD, cards up to 128 GB are supported. All devices work very fast, this also applies to the E3. Android 4.4.4 is installed, but of course there will be an update to the latest version. Branded wallpapers are used, icons have been altered, the clock widget has undergone changes, the clock numbers have become thicker - or rather, the font has become thicker, the minutes have remained unchanged. Let's see how the software will change by the time the devices enter the market.
Wireless interfaces are typical, they are Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, NFC. A five-pin connector is used, as on the Z2, all new accessories that require power from the gadget are supported - a microphone, a noise-canceling headset. There will probably be other things too - like headphones with Hi-Res audio support. The magnetic stand at the end allows you to charge the Z3 without using the microUSB connector. If you get tired of the plug, we recommend buying a docking station. By the way, the headset will be removed from the delivery set of all Z3s, you have to buy it separately.

The PS4 firmware will be released, the Z3 Compact will have a function, and what will happen? Here's what: a smartphone or tablet can be connected via Wi-Fi to the set-top box and use the device's screen to play along with the DualShock 4 joystick. The display ceases to be touch-sensitive, an image from the set-top box is transferred there. To put it simply, the Z3 Compact turns into a miniature TV. There will be a special holder for the joystick, where you can put a smartphone or tablet. So far, all this will work only within the home Wi-Fi network, but they promise to expand the possibilities - for example, in Berlin I could turn on the set-top box with the Z3, launch BF4, put the smartphone in the joystick and calmly play for an hour before bed. But in the case of the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact, there is a question whether this should be done, given the size of the display.
Yes, the Z2 won't have that functionality.
Camera

I note that the default is not the best quality and I advise you to play with the manual settings, the Z3 Compact is capable of a lot. A separate shooting button plays a very important role, you can quickly launch the camera, take the first frame. And it works like a camera: press the button - focus, press all the way - shooting.
Food
The smartphone uses a battery with a capacity of 2600 mAh, they promise a battery life of up to two days even without stamina mode, any microUSB cable can be used for charging. Here's an observation, if you use a watch with Android, then in Stamina mode, no notifications will come to the watch, one friend complained that Moto 360 paired with Sony Xperia Z3 Compact turns into just a watch - until you activate the smartphone, nothing going on. And Stamina should be turned on, as it seriously affects the running time. For example, with my quiet use, the device lives quietly for a couple of days - in this sense, the smartphone behaves much better than flagships with huge displays.
And also, besides the simple Stamina mode, there is an UltraSTAMINA mode, only the phone and messages work. If suddenly you find yourself in a situation where 30% of the charge remains and you know that you will not charge your smartphone for a long time, feel free to turn on UltraSTAMINA - hold out until the evening (hold out for a very long time). Pay attention to the screenshot: battery charge - 56%, approximate runtime - 10 days 16 hours. Not bad, right? I personally often find myself in such a situation, I have to carry external batteries with me.

The smartphone costs about 23,990 rubles in retail, the price seems to me quite adequate - behind the "mimic" appearance is a functional and powerful device that can serve you faithfully for years. Many people still use Sony Xperia Z, we have such a person in our editorial office - but why not, if everything suits you? So Sony Xperia Z3 Compact can become your faithful companion. Interesting design, good display and camera, protection from water - and not just protection, you can literally wash with your smartphone. It's a shame that there aren't any accessories included, but you can buy a noise canceling headset or a stereo microphone if you want good live videos. The fonts in the menu are great, the camera has really interesting effects, if you are sitting in a company and have nothing to do, turn on AR Effect and enjoy. The speaker, as I said, is quite loud, there are no complaints about the reception quality. LTE is supported, everything worked perfectly with Beeline and MegaFon.
The quality of speech transmission is at a good level, unlike the Z2, there is no effect here when you catch sound from the speaker with your ear - one of the latest firmware fixed this bug for Z2, everything is fine in Z3 Compact. There are no complaints about the volume of the earpiece in the Z3 Compact either.
There are no tapes. This is also a huge plus.
In the days of huge smartphones with large screens, finding a quality small smartphone turns out to be very difficult. It is gratifying that Sony is following the same path, when the miniature version of the flagship is identical in characteristics and has its own chips. What would I like about the Z4 Compact? Maybe they will do without frames at all, they will add a good headset to the kit, the frames will be made of metal - after all, users love metal, which is already there.
